Free The Key is an owner-operated business serving Roanoke and the surrounding Virginia communities. Call the number and you get Lamont, the person who is going to show up. There is no call center in between.
Why the business exists
Being stranded is a bad feeling, and the uncertainty makes it worse. Not knowing when help is coming. Not knowing what it will cost. Not knowing whether anyone will answer at all. Customers tell us what the alternative looked like for them. One wrote in his Google review that a national service offered him a 45 minute wait and a $200 fee before he called us. Auto clubs want an annual membership before they will talk to you. Free The Key was built to be the opposite. One call, a real time, a clear price, and someone on the way.
What we actually do
A short list, done properly. Damage-free car unlocks for cars and semi trucks, jump starts, tire changes and emergency fuel delivery. We do not claim to do everything. We do not cut or program keys, we do not tow, and we do not repair tires at the roadside. Knowing where the line sits is why the work we do take on gets done well.
Around the clock means around the clock
A real share of our calls land between midnight and six in the morning. The airport at 4am. A truck stop at 6:15. A back road in Botetourt County with no light and no cell signal. Those are the calls that matter most, and they are the reason the phone gets answered on the second ring.
Serving the Roanoke Valley and beyond
We are based in Roanoke and cover Salem, Vinton, Hollins, and Botetourt County including Daleville and Troutville. We also run south to Rocky Mount and west toward Christiansburg and the New River Valley. Smaller towns get thin coverage after dark. We make a point of going.
Proof of ownership, every time
Before we open any vehicle we ask you to show it is yours. That is not red tape. It is the one thing separating a legitimate lockout service from someone who will open anybody’s car for cash. It protects your vehicle as much as everyone else’s.
